By providing online funds to private schools amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Chhattisgarh has become the first state in the country. According to the reports, the State School Education Minister Dr Premasai Singh Tekam transferred Rs 101 Crore of tuition fee directly to the bank accounts of 4473 private schools across the state. The minister conducted the transfers as per the Right to Education Act. Along with the money transfer, the Chhattisgarh state government also became the first in the states where 51,985 students enrolled in schools amidst the pandemic. Meanwhile, the fund has been sent online in a systematic manner.

Until now 3.5 lakh students have been benefited under the Right to Education Act. Reports also suggest that other states such as Odisha, Jharkhand and Assam are also all set to adopt the above-mentioned model.

During the occasion, the School Education Minister also stated that its the first time in Chhattisgarh the amount of Right to Education has been distributed in the online mode. The education minister also revealed that for a long time the fee of the children from economically weaker sections enrolled under the Right to Education Act in the private schools are not submitted on time which is why the amount has been arranged to be paid directly from the state to the account.

Stating the 51,985 children took admission in the present academic session 2021, the minister said that the system and process of transferring funds will be kept be transparent in the initiative to help more students.
