CM Channi announces medical college at Pathankot

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has announced medical college at Pathankot.
Recently, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi had announced setting up a new medical college in Sangrur. Today, he has announced a medical college at Pathankot.
The government of Punjab tweeted today, "CM Channi announces; Medical College at Pathankot, declaring Bhoa as an administrative block, upgrading Narot Jaimal Singh hospital and providing the suitable land for the building of Sant Baba Nabha Dass."
On November 29, 2021, CMO Punjab tweeted, “CM CharanjitChanni gave go-ahead to the recruitment of approximately 3400 various posts in the Health Department. CM to lay the foundation Stones of Medical colleges at Kapurthala & Hoshiarpur soon also announces to set up a new Medical College in Sangrur with 100% State funding.”
This year, the state government had announced to set up four new medical colleges in Malerkotla, Kapurthala, Mohali, and Hoshiarpur. These four medical colleges would increase the total number of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) seats in Punjab by 500. As per reports, Mohali college will start functioning from this year and colleges in Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur will start functioning from next year. Currently, there are a total of 1,400 MBBS seats in the state.
After going through the deadly second wave of the Covid 19 pandemic and amid the fear of yet another wave the Central government is targeting to open at least one medical college in each district of India. States like Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Telangana are all geared up to notch up the health services in their respective states.
