Amid the ongoing pandemic situation and restrictions imposed in order to contain the novel coronavirus, college admissions in India would be delayed this year. According to the reports, Attorney General K. K. Venugopal told the Supreme Court on June 22 that college admission will be delayed this year due to the ongoing result processing for CBSE Class 12 students among other boards. Due to the devastating second wave of COVID-19, various state board including CBSE 12th board exams have been cancelled. The board exam conducting authorities are formulating different ways to evaluate the students.

Commenting on the delayed admission process, AG said, "The Controller of Exams is here. What he is saying is, after July 31, the UGC will wait for results from State Boards as well as ICSE and then direct the admissions for professional colleges and give them the signal. The apprehension is not justified as UGC will wait for all Boards"

Another point that was noted was that foreign colleges in America, Canada, New Zealand and the UK normally start their new terms in September. Talking about the delayed admissions, Pallavi Upadhyaya, Principal, DPS-RNE Ghaziabad said, “I’m not positive if college students who want to research overseas will be capable to take admission in September version. Whereas board exams scores have restricted influence on international college admissions, passing Class 12 is certainly should. The entire calendar could go for a toss in Indian universities and schools too.”
