IIT Madras Launches Online Certification in Digital Systems Audit on SWAYAM Plus

IIT Madras, in collaboration with CAG, has launched a four-month online Certification on Audit of Digital Systems (CADS) through SWAYAM Plus.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras has launched a new online certification programme in digital systems auditing in collaboration with Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). Certification on Audit of Digital Systems (CADS) was launched through the SWAYAM Plus platform.

IIT Madras four-month Foundation-level certification programme has been designed to audit and assess modern digital systems used by governments and organisations. The programme aims to address the growing need for professionals with knowledge of digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technologies and data-driven services.

This programme is hosted on IITM Pravartak Learning Management System through SWAYAM Plus and will be delivered completely online. It is open to candidates who are pursuing or have completed an undergraduate degree in India.

IIT Madras CADS Programme 2026

IIT Madras CADS curriculum covers six major areas related to digital systems auditing. Public Audit forms the foundation of the programme, while specialised areas include

• Information Technology

• Cybersecurity

• Information Systems

• Digital Public Platforms and Privacy

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The curriculum is aimed at providing learners with a broad understanding of how digital systems can be evaluated from the perspectives of technology, security, privacy, governance and accountability.

Practical Learning Through Case Studies

IIT Madras and CAG have designed the programme to combine academic learning with practical applications. Learners will be exposed to case studies, self-assessment modules and audit scenarios based on industry requirements. The assessment will be conducted through proctored computer-based tests (CBTs). While the course delivery is online, the examinations will be conducted in person.

Curriculum Developed by IIT Madras and CAG Experts

CADS curriculum has been jointly developed by domain experts from IIT Madras, CAG and IITM Pravartak. The programme has also been aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Credit Framework (NCrF).

As government departments and organisations increasingly adopt AI, cloud computing, digital public platforms and data-driven technologies, the need to ensure the security, reliability, privacy and accountability of these systems is also growing.

Through CADS programme, IIT Madras aims to provide learners with specialised knowledge to understand and assess these emerging digital systems. The programme can be particularly relevant for learners and professionals interested in technology, cybersecurity, auditing, governance, information systems and artificial intelligence.
