A Jamia Millia Islamia University professor tweeted about deliberately failing 15 of his students, who are non-muslims.

A Jamia Millia Islamia University professor tweeted about deliberately failing 15 of his students. He intentionally mentioned that all of them are non-Muslims and he failed them because they didn’t support the protest against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). In no time the professor’s tweet went viral and faced public outrage and wrath on social media. Soon, the university suspended him for his act of communalism.

On March 25, Abrar Ahmad, an assistant professor at Jamia University tweeted from his personal account that he has chosen to fail 15 non-Muslim students who didn’t support the agitation against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

While the professor has deleted the tweet, here’s the screenshot of the tweet that he posted:

The Jamia Millia Islamia University not only set an inquiry against him but has also suspended him. In its response, the University stated that 'Dr. Abrar Ahmad, Asstt Professor of @jmiu_official tweeted in public domain as to failing 15 non-muslim students in an exam. This is a serious misconduct inciting communal disharmony under CCS CONDUCT RULES. The university suspends him pending an inquiry.'

The professor tweet immediately triggered people on Twitter. People soon started asking the university to take strict action against such communal behavior.

Since December, the University has seen protests over CAA, NRC and NPR. On December 15, the tension among students increased when the protest became violent and Delhi police barged into the University premises and allegedly thrashed the students. However, the protest outside and around the university area is now called off due to the threat of the coronavirus spread.
