The Mahindra University campus in Hyderabad has been shut after 30 people on campus tested positive for COVID-19. The University had reopened for physical classes and tested a total of 1,700 students, faculty members and support staff. 
“Of them, 25 students, one faculty member and four support staff tested positive. Following this, we decided to close the campus and continue online classes,” said Rakesh Sreedharan, head of marketing and admissions at Mahindra University, told an English daily

The University has asked all the students residing in the hostels to go back to their homes and was informed that the classes for the semester will be now conducted online from today; i.e. November 29, 2021. The university has asked all faculty, students and supporting staff to remain in home isolation.
“All students who have been infected are vaccinated. Despite vaccination, they have contracted the virus. We are getting the varsity thoroughly sanitised,” said Sreedharan.

Meanwhile, Medchal-Malkajgiri District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO). Mallikarjuna Rao visited the Mahindra University on Saturday, November 27, as reported by thenewsminute. “Tests were conducted on 1700 students and staff members. Out of which 25 students and five staff members have tested positive. The institution will remain closed for at least 15 days,” the DMHO said. He further said those who had tested positive have now been kept under home isolation.

The University has also declared a holiday for the next 15 days and the classes will now be conducted in online mode.
