Royal Global University and Assam Rifles have signed an MoU. The collaboration introduces the RGU Royal Shaurya Scholarship and the Royal Suraksha Scholarship for wards of defence families, including a hundred per cent tuition fee waiver for wards of serving personnel, ex-servicemen, and martyrs seeking higher education opportunities in academic fields across Assam.
The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam Rifles to support the families of defence personnel in their higher education. The MoU was signed at the Headquarters of the Directorate General of Assam Rifles (HQ DGAR) located in Laitkor, Shillong. This collaboration aims to strengthen nation-building by offering financial assistance to the wards and dependents of security forces.
The Royal Global University Assam Rifles MoU aims to provide two unique scholarship schemes to ensure that quality education remains accessible. The scholarship scheme covers the families of serving personnel, retired soldiers, disabled veterans, and personnel who died in the line of duty.
Details of Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha Scholarships
The partnership introduces two new financial aid programs for defence families. The first scheme is the RGU Royal Shaurya Scholarship. This category provides a complete 100 per cent tuition fee waiver to the children and dependents of martyrs and gallantry awardees.
The second scheme is the Royal Suraksha Scholarship under the RGU framework. This policy grants a 50 per cent tuition fee concession to the wards of both serving and retired defence personnel. Both organisations expect these programs to ease the financial burden on military families significantly.
RGU Assam is currently accepting applications for the 2026-27 academic session. Students can apply in a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Eligible academic streams include Engineering, Management, Law, and Pharmacy. The campus also offers courses in Sciences, Humanities, Fine Arts, and emerging technologies.
