The Higher Education Institutes in Meghalaya have been directed to reopen from February 1, 2021. The state education department instructed the colleges to stay adhered to the guidelines.
As per the official notification released by the state education department, the classes will be held in blended mode. Classes in blended mode mean both online and offline classes will be held in combination. The blended model classroom will include lesson transaction, assignments, online interaction and counselling etc.
However, for all the students who wish to attend offline classes, it is mandatory for them to have parental consent. The Higher educational institutions have been instructed not to make attendance compulsory and it should depend entirely on parental consent.
The notification from the education department further stated that there will be a minimum of three classes' that will be held offline. Two classes in a week must be from home for assignment related tasks. This decision has been taken to reduce exposure. Students and parents can also get more updated information from the official website of the Meghalaya State Education Department.
Colleges across the state have also been given the authority to close the offline classes at any time if they suspect any COVID-19 cases. The colleges must discuss with the health official before taking any final decision.
The schools of Meghalaya in rural areas are already operating in a similar mode. The consent of parents is compulsory for both schools and colleges. And offline attendance of the classes is also not compulsory. Keep following this particular page and the official website of the Meghalaya State Education Department for more information on the functioning of colleges.
