Schools in Andhra Pradesh will reopen from August 3, the state government has announced. 

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that all schools in the state which were closed due to coronavirus outbreak will reopen on August 3.

"The fresh academic year for schools will start from August 3," he said.

Addressing a review meeting on the Spandana programme, Chief Minister directed officials of the Education Department to ensure completion of development works taken up in the first phase of Mana Badi Nadu-Nedu in 15,715 schools, by July-end.

He said availability of adequate stocks of cement and sand was key if the works were to be completed by July-end, and directed the District Collectors concerned to ensure the free flow of the two commodities without any hindrance.

Earlier, the state government had also started the 'Jagananna Vidya Deevena' scheme that will provide 100 percent fee reimbursement and is expected to benefit over 12 lakh students across the state.

Considering the rise in a number of cases of coronavirus in the state, the government has also extended the last date for submission of application for various entrance examinations.

A statement issued by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) on Tuesday said the last date for all common entrance exams had been extended till June 15 and students could apply online till this date without any late fee.
