Coronavirus: Summer vacations in Himachal Pradesh schools until May 31

The schools in Himachal Pradesh will have summer vacations from May 18 to May 31, the state Board said in a notification. 

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has announced that the schools in the state will have summer vacations from May 18 to May 31.

In a bid to reopen the schools after the lockdown ends, the board has proposed that the summer vacations be of two weeks.

The board has directed all the government schools and all the private schools affiliated to it, in Himachal Pradesh, to adhere to these instructions.

In a letter by the Board to the heads of institutions of privately managed schools, it stated that “As per the decision of the Director, Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh ... dated May 16 that there will be vacations of two weeks with effect from. May 18 to 31, in all government schools all over the state...in all privately managed schools affiliated with this board all over the state.”

Earlier, the Board had announced that it will be conducting the class 12 exam for only Geography subject.

The Board is expected to conduct the HPBOSE 12th Geography exam in June and is expected to release the date sheet soon. The Board has also announced that the exams for computer science, yoga and vocational courses will be given a go-by and marks in these subjects will be awarded on the basis of the scores obtained in compulsory papers.

All the educational institutions had been ordered to shut down to combat COVID-19.

The country has been under lockdown since March 25 to contain the coronavirus spread. The lockdown has been extended for the fourth time until May 17.
