COVID-19 Surge: Educational Institution in Himachal Pradesh to remain closed till May 10

Amid the ongoing coronavirus situation in the country, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur has announced that all educational institutions in the state will remain shut until May 10. The Himachal Pradesh government has also postponed the state board exams for Classes 10 and 12 in view of the rising COVID-19 cases. The undergraduate university examinations, due to start on April 17, have also been deferred.
Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has earlier decided to postpone the HPBOSE 10th, 12th exams 2021 to May 17, 2021, in view of rising COVID cases in the state. The Department of Education decided to postpone the HP Board Class 10, 12 and UG Exams 2021 after Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 10th exams were cancelled and 12th exams postponed. The new exam schedule for the HPBOSE 12th, 10th exams 2021 will be announced on the official website after reviewing the situation.
The situation will be reviewed at the government level on May 1 and further directions will be issued accordingly, state education secretary Rajeev Sharma had said.
On April 19, 2021, the Himachal Pradesh government had decided to extend the closure of all educational institutes until May 1. However, now looking at the current coronavirus situation and no dip in the rate of positive cases, the government has again extended the date of closure.
Owing to the rise in coronavirus cases, along with Himachal Pradesh, several states across the country have shut down schools, colleges and educational institutions and have postponed exams too.
