Applications for the class of 2026-30 are now open and will close on 1 February 2026. Applicants can qualify through any of the following exams: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims, UCEED, or the BITS Design Aptitude Test (BITSDAT)

BITS Design School (BITSDES) has announced the commencement of admissions for its third cohort of four-year, fully residential Bachelor of Design (Honours) programme. Applications for the class of 2026-30 are now open and will close on 1 February 2026.

A total of 180 students will be admitted to the batch. Applicants can qualify through any of the following exams: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims, UCEED, or the BITS Design Aptitude Test (BITSDAT). Those willing to apply with NID-DAT or UCEED scores are also required to complete and submit their applications by 1 February 2026 with their NID-DAT / UCEED roll numbers.

The BITSDAT, a one hour long online test will be conducted from 31 March to 5 April 2026.

Only students who have submitted their applications by 1 February 2026 will be able to upload their scores when the application portal is opened between 8 April and 12 April 2026.

Shortlisted candidates will be announced on 16 April 2026, followed by portfolio uploads from 16 April to 20 April 2026, and online interviews between 2 May and 12 May 2026. Final results will be declared on 18 May 2026. All dates are subject to change at the discretion of BITS Design School.

The previous cohorts represent a wide spectrum of academic backgrounds, including students from Science, Arts, Commerce streams from CBSE, ISC, State Boards, IB, and IGCSE.

Students can specialize in Physical Product Design, Digital Product Design (UI/UX), Design Research & Insights, Experience Design and Visual Design. The programme offers transdisciplinary education blending design, policy, business strategy, and emerging technologies to prepare students for evolving industry and policy needs.

Q: Β  What is the eligibility criteria for UCEED 2026?
A:

To appear in the UCEED 2026 exam, the candidate needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Age limit: The candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2001. In the case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, there is a relaxation of 5 years.

  • Number of attempts - A candidate is allowed to appear in UCEED exam for a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.

  • Academic requirements - The candidate must have passed 10+2 exam in 2025 or 2026. Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2024 or earlier are NOT eligible.

Q: Β  Can I get direct admission at BITS Design School?
A:

No, BITS Design School does not offer direct admissions. The selection to BDes (Hons) course is based on UCEED, BITS-DAT or NID-DAT scores. Selected candidates are further called for portfolio interview. The school informs the aspirants about their selection. Once selected, aspirants need to pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the institute.

Q: Β  Who can participate in UCEED counseling?
A:

The counseling process for UCEED 2026 will be conducted by IIT Bombay as a Joint Seat Allocation process.

To participate in UCEED 2026 counseling, the candidate must have qualfied in the UCEED 2026 entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank.

This means, if the candidate has failed to qualify Part A exam, he or she will not be allocated a merit rank, and therefore are not eligible to take part in the counseling process.
