NTA has announced the JEE Mains 2027 Session 1 exam date. The exam starts on January 22, which means exactly 114 days remain. JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will be held on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30. The registration is expected to start in the last week of October 2026 at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Time management is one of the biggest challenges in JEE Main. Lengthy calculations, particularly in Mathematics and Physics, can consume too much exam time. For the remaining 100 days before Session 1 of JEE Mains exam starts, students can divide preparation into three phases:

1. First 40 days: Complete pending topics and revise high-weightage chapters.
2. Next 35 days: Focus on PYQs, mixed question practice and regular mock tests.
3. Final 25 days: Take full-length mocks, analyse mistakes and revise formulas, reactions and short notes.

NTA does not officially release chapter-wise weightage. However, analysis of previous year JEE Main papers can help students identify frequently asked topics.

Students should use these chapters for prioritised revision but should not completely skip the remaining syllabus.

JEE Main 2027: How to Manage Time During the Exam

Students should practise solving questions under a time limit instead of focusing only on the number of questions completed. During mock tests, candidates should identify questions that take excessive time. If a question involves a lengthy calculation and the approach is not clear, it is better to mark it for review and move ahead. Returning to it later is more useful than spending four to five minutes on one question.

Students should also analyse every mock test and note:

• Questions that took too long
• Calculation mistakes
• Conceptual errors
• Questions left unattempted
• Sections consuming maximum time

Tips to Tackle Lengthy Calculations

• Practise basic calculations: Regularly practise fractions, percentages, squares, ratios, approximation and scientific notation to improve calculation speed.
• Use shortcuts carefully: Learn standard formula-based approaches and shortcuts for frequently asked question types, but do not use shortcuts if they compromise accuracy.
• Avoid unnecessary steps: After solving PYQs, check whether the same question could have been solved using a shorter method.
• Use timed PYQs: Set a fixed time while solving previous year questions. Gradually work on reducing the time while maintaining accuracy.
• Do not get stuck: Not every question requires an immediate solution. Students should prioritise questions they can solve confidently and return to lengthy or difficult questions later.
