All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nemetschek India Private Limited to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and prepare students for emerging career opportunities in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector.

As part of partnership, AEC Centres of Excellence will be established in 10 AICTE affiliated institutions. These centres will provide students with industry relevant training and help bridge gap between academic learning and the skills required by employers.

Over 25,000 Students to Receive Training

Under this initiative, more than 25,000 students from Civil Engineering and related disciplines will be upskilled and reskilled for new roles in AEC industry. The programme will focus on practical skills and technologies that are increasingly being used in construction and infrastructure sectors. It will also promote Building Information Modelling (BIM). Students will receive training through a 50 hour, three-credit skilling programme. The initiative is expected to give students greater exposure to industry practices and improve their employability.

AICTE Launches INR 245 Crore Doctoral Fellowship Programme

In another major initiative, AICTE has launched Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellowship Programme (AIEDFP) to encourage research focused on practical solutions and innovation. The programme has a proposed financial outlay of INR 245 crore over five years and is expected to support 150 PhD fellowships.
