DST Invites Applications For Project Proposals under SYST; Apply Till March 31

The Scheme for Young Scientist and Technologist program by DST invites project proposals in key thrust areas such as Green Tech, Renewable Energy, and Marine Biology. Interested candidates can apply for SYST online at the official website.
SYST Program: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is accepting applications for Project Proposals under the Scheme for Young Scientists and Technologists (SYST). Applicants must submit a soft copy of their proposal via onlinedst.gov.in. The last date to apply for the SYST program is March 31, 2025, using the prescribed format available on the DST website: dst.gov.in.
They must note that the proposed project tenure should not exceed three years. A screening committee constituted by DST will review the submissions. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the presentation. Who are eligible for Project Proposals under SYST?
Interested candidates must meet the below-mentioned eligibility before applying for SYST program:
- Qualification: Ph.D. in Basic or Applied Sciences / MD / MS. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are also eligible.
- Age: Must be under 40 years as of the application submission deadline, with a relaxation of 5 years for Women, Differently-abled (Divyangjan), SC, ST, OBC, and EWS candidates.
- For young scientists without regular employment (for Component B): They must be affiliated with an academic institution (Government/Private) or an S&T department/institution.
Call for Project Proposals
Applications are invited for project proposals under two components* in the following key thrust areas:
- Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry: Innovative technologies for improved practices.
- Green Technologies: Solutions for underutilized crops/vegetables, sustainable rural housing, textiles from natural fibers and additives, and health & hygiene for underprivileged communities.
- Renewable Energy: Sustainable solutions for livelihoods.
- Marine Biology: Focus on transformative technologies for seaweed and fisheries.
- Waste Valorization: Converting agro/animal waste into economic resources.
- Occupational Health & Safety: Reducing drudgery and enhancing worker welfare.
Components:
- Component A: For Employed Young Scientists
- Component B: Special Call for Unemployed Young Scientists (SC/ST category)
