GATE 2027 Exam Centre Update: IIT Madras recently revised GATE 2027 exam information regrading addition of test cities and selection during registration. IIT Madras have stated in the revised information bulletin regarding expanding GATE 2027 exam centres. Candidates appearing for the GATE exam this year, can now select up to six test cities (from same GATE zone) while filling the application form. Earlier, candidates were allowed to select only three test cities. Candidates are advised to check the GATE exam cities 2027 carefully before filling the form. GATE 2027 registration will open on August 14, 2026 at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. Candidates meeting the GATE exam eligibility must submit their form as per the deadline mentioned on the official website.

How to add GATE 2027 Exam Centre in Application Form at GOAPS
Candidate can add their choice of test city at the time of filling the GATE application form 2027:

Go to official website and click on GOAPS portal

Register to generate enrolment ID and password

Login using credentials and fill personal and educational details

Select 6 test cities based on your preferences (from the same zone)

Provide facial details, upload documents and choose test city

Pay application fees and submit
Download confirmation page PDF and keep it safe. Based on the candidate’s test city choices, exam centre will be allocated for the preferred GATE 2027 exam dates.
GATE 2027 Exam Centres for Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals and Indian citizens residing abroad may appear for GATE 2027, by paying the full application fee (INR 2000 per test paper), but they must choose examination cities within India. No international test centers are offered to students.

The GATE 2027 registration process remains the same. However, here are a few changes that have been implemented for GATE application form-filling process.
- Create a verified DigiLocker account for a smooth registration process
- Candidates have to provide their facial details/recognition during registration process
Candidates can choose at least six exam centres while filling their GATE exam application form. The list of GATE exam cities (zone-wise) is available on the website.
GATE 2027 application form will be released on August 14, 2026. The last date to apply with no late fee is September 21, and with late fee is September 30.
IIT Madras will allow GATE 2027 registration from August 14, 2026 to September 21, 2026 with regular fees. Candidates can still submit their GATE exam form till September 30, 2026 by paying an additional fee. The following documents must be kept ready before registration starts on GOAPS portal:

OBC-NCL and EWS category are not required to submit any category certificate. IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027 on Feb 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027 in two shifts.
