IIT Kharagpur, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s NPTEL scheme, has welcomed applicants to apply for a free online course on cloud computing. To provide quality education to interested candidates who are willing to take learning from the IITs, MHRD along with seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Kanpur, Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kharagpur, Guwahati, and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science, altogether took an initiative in the form of a project called the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
Soumya K.Ghosh, Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur, will be conducting the cloud computing course for a period of 8 weeks. The professor was working for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) before joining the IIT Kharagpur.
IIT Kharagpur Cloud Computing Course: Eligibility criteria
Postgraduate students and engineering students from electronics, computer science, electronics, and electrical streams with basic computer architecture and organization knowledge can take up the course. The enrollment for the course will go on until February 24, 2020. The institute will conduct the classes from February 24 to April 17.
Cloud Computing Course: Syllabus
The Cloud Computing Course at IIT Kharagpur will cover an introduction to Cloud Computing, Service Management in Cloud Computing, Cloud Security, Open Source and Commercial Clouds, Cloud Computing Architecture, Data Management in Cloud Computing, Resource Management in Cloud, Cloud Simulator, and Research trend in Cloud Computing, Fog Computing.
Although the enrolling process as well as the online course is free of cost but the students interested in obtaining an e-certificate for the AICTE approved FDP course need to register and write the proctored exam conducted in person at any of the designated examination centres. Students need to pay Rs 1000 to take this examination. The exam will be conducted twice on April 26, 2020- 9 am to 12 noon in the morning session and 2 pm to 5 pm in the afternoon session.
There are certain marks and qualifying criteria for students who want to obtain the certificate. No hard-copies will be dispatched, candidates will receive only the e-certificates with IIT Kharagpur and NPTEL logo.
