IIT Patna Researcher Develops New Method for Handling Cyber-Attack in AI & ML Applications
Dr. Abhinoy Kumar Singh along with his research group developed an advanced estimation algorithm, which can efficiently perform under cyber-attack
Dr. Abhinoy Kumar Singh, a faculty member of IIT Patna has developed a new technique for improving the robustness of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI & ML) techniques against cyber-attacks.
The implementation of AI & ML techniques mostly involves cyber-physical systems. However, cyber-physical systems are prone to cyber-attacks. Although cyber-security technologies are available, they are not always efficient enough to completely overcome the adverse impacts of data manipulation due to cyber-attacks. Therefore, research is ongoing to develop advanced techniques that are robust to cyber-attacks. A predominantly used algorithm in AI & ML techniques is the estimation algorithm (a recursive process of estimation is known as filtering).
Dr. Abhinoy Kumar Singh along with his research group developed an advanced estimation algorithm, which can efficiently perform under cyber-attack. Interestingly, this advanced algorithm could also handle unknown time delay in the data, which often occurs during data propagation using cyber-physical systems.
Such a development can provide robustness to AI and ML techniques in dealing with cyber-attacks.
Apart from IIT Patna, the researchers from IIT Indore (India), United Arab Emirates University (UAE), and University of Hradec Kralove (Czech Republic) also participated in this research.
