JEE Main 2027 Exam Date Clash Row: Parents Demand Rescheduling of Maharashtra Boards HSC Practicals

Parents of students appearing for the Maharashtra HSC Board exams and JEE Main 2027 have raised concerns over the overlap between the JEE Main Session 1 examination schedule and the Maharashtra Class 12 practical examination window. They have urged the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to coordinate and provide a solution for affected students.

As per the NTA exam calendar, JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will be conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30, 2027, with January 31 kept as a buffer date. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra HSC practical, oral, graded and internal assessment examinations are scheduled from January 20 to February 6, 2027. The clash of JEE Main 2027 Session 1 dates and the Maharashtra HSC practical has stirred the concerns of the aspirants and their parents.

For now, there has been no official announcement from NTA or MSBSHSE confirming any change to the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 or Maharashtra HSC practical schedule. Students should continue to follow the official NTA and Maharashtra Board websites for further updates.

JEE Main 2027 & Maharashtra HSC Practical Dates Overlap

The overlap does not necessarily mean that every student will have both examinations on the same day. Maharashtra HSC practical examinations are conducted within the announced window, with individual schedules decided by schools and junior colleges.

However, parents have pointed out that Science stream students preparing for both examinations could face difficulty if their practical examination is allotted on the same day as their JEE Main paper.

According to reports, a group of parents from Maharashtra, including Pune, has approached the state board and NTA seeking a process to ensure that students do not have to choose between their compulsory HSC practical examination and JEE Main.

Parents Suggest Changes to Maharashtra HSC Practical Dates 2027

Parents have suggested that the Maharashtra Board consider conducting Science practical examinations earlier, as in the last week of December 2026 or the first week of January 2027.

Another suggestion is to provide a special practical re-examination window for students whose JEE Main examination dates overlap with their HSC practicals.

Parents have also urged NTA to consider providing an alternative JEE Main 2027 Session 1 slot to affected Maharashtra candidates.

Maharashtra HSC 2027 Theory Exams From February 8

The Maharashtra HSC theory examinations are scheduled to begin on February 8, 2027, and continue until March 16, 2027. The practical, oral, graded and internal assessment examinations will be conducted between January 20 and February 6. The detailed subject-wise timetable is expected to be released separately.
