NTA Announces Buffer Date for JEE Mains 2027

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the tentative schedule for JEE Main 2027 session 1. The January session exam will be conducted on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30. Note that NTA has also kept January 31, 2027 as a buffer date while announcing its examination calendar this year.

The inclusion of a buffer date means that the JEE Main 2027 January examination schedule extends beyond the six announced exam days. However, candidates should not consider January 31 as an additional regular exam date at this stage. NTA will announce all details about the buffer date along with the detailed JEE Mains schedule.

Why Has NTA Kept January 31 as a Buffer Date?

A buffer date is generally kept to deal with unforeseen situations that may affect the conduct of an examination. For a large-scale computer-based examination such as JEE Main, the possibility of technical, administrative, logistical or other disruptions cannot be completely ruled out. NTA has not explained why January 31 has been designated as the buffer date for JEE Main 2027. Therefore, students should not assume that the date will definitely be used.

If an examination or a particular shift cannot be conducted as scheduled because of an unforeseen situation, the authority can take a decision regarding the affected candidates. The final use of the buffer date will depend on several factors and will be communicated by NTA.

Is January 31 a JEE Main 2027 Exam Date?

The NTA JEE Main exam calendar mentions January 22-24 and 28-30 as the session 1 dates and January 31 separately as a buffer date. For now, the JEE Main 2027 exam is scheduled for six days and January 31 cannot be treated as an exam date yet. The JEE Mains session 1 exam dates are:
