Maharashtra Welcomes Its First-Ever Industrial Training Institute for Disabled Persons in Latur

Skills Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha virtually inaugurated Maharashtra's Industrial Training Institute (ITI) for individuals with disabilities. The institute has been named Samvedna ITI. The minister further said that the state government has given an approval to start an independent industrial training institute for disabled people in this institute.
Industrial training will be given in this institute to the disabled people and thus employment and self-employment opportunities will be available to the disabled. As per the information available, the admission to students will commence by June 2024.
During the inaugural event, Lodha highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's introduction of the term 'Divyang' bestowed a fresh identity upon individuals with disabilities, altering societal perceptions. He emphasized that this institute would serve as a beacon of guidance for the Divyang community.
ITI will help disabled persons become part of the mainstream society. The Director of Vocational Education and Training, Digambar Dalvi handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore for the institute.
To enhance trainees' skills, this institution has partnered with local industries through MOUs to share technical expertise during training. Computer literacy is prioritized through two IT labs equipped with 25 computers each, all connected to the internet via a 100 Mbps leased line.
