MHT CET 2026 CAP Round 3 Option Form: First Six Preferences to Be Auto-Frozen
The MHT CET 2026 CAP round 3 counselling is ongoing. The authorities are conducting the option entry in online mode. Candidates must check a newly introduced rule for the round 3 choice filling process before locking their preferences. More details below.
The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell is conducting the MHT CET option form-filling for CAP round 3 from August 20 to 22. Candidates who are entering their preferences for the round 3 counselling must take note of the latest advisory. As per the latest update on the official CAP portal, the first six preferences entered by candidates in the round 3 option form will be auto-frozen. Candidates are thus advised to fill and arrange their choices carefully before confirming the option form.
Under the new MHT CET CAP round 3 rules, candidates who are allotted a seat corresponding to any of their first six preferences will have the seat auto-frozen. Such candidates will have to pay the seat acceptance fee and will not be eligible to participate in subsequent CAP rounds.
On the other hand, candidates allotted a seat beyond their first six preferences will have the option to either accept the seat and freeze it or choose the betterment option if they wish to participate in further rounds, subject to the applicable rules.

The auto-freeze provision makes the preference order particularly important in CAP round 3. Candidates should place only those colleges and branches that they are genuinely willing to join among the first six preferences.
Before confirming the form, candidates should review the available vacancies, previous-round cutoffs, their MHT CET percentile, category and preferred branches. Once the option form is confirmed, candidates should carefully check the order of all selected choices.
