MHT CET 2027: Panel Formed to Consider Class 12 Marks for BTech, BPharm Admissions
Maharashtra government has constituted a five-member committee to examine whether Class 12 board examination marks should be considered along with MHT CET scores for admission to undergraduate engineering and pharmacy courses. The move follows a proposal from the CET Cell and could change the way the merit list is prepared for BTech and BPharm admissions.

The committee has been asked to submit its recommendations to the state government within 15 days. It will examine the appropriate weightage that could be given to Class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile scores while preparing the admission merit list. The Maharashtra State CET Cell currently conducts MHT CET for admission to undergraduate professional programmes, including engineering and pharmacy, among other courses. The committee is specifically expected to recommend the ratio between class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile scores. The final admission rules will be known only after the state government considers the committee’s recommendations.

MHT CET 2027 Merit List May Consider HSC marks
At present, the proposal is under examination and no final decision has been announced on the weightage or implementation date. The committee will determine the proportion of Class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile that could be used for preparing the merit list. The panel will also examine when such a system could be introduced. According to the report, the implementation timeline will have to ensure that students get adequate time to prepare for both their Class 12 board examinations and MHT CET.
This means that students preparing for MHT CET 2027 should not assume that HSC marks will definitely be added to their CET score. Any change in the admission criteria will depend on the committee’s recommendations and the subsequent decision of the Maharashtra government.
5 Member Committee Formed by Maharashtra Government
The committee comprises senior officials and heads of educational institutions. The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, who is also the Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Academic and Research Council (MahaSARC), has been appointed as the Chairperson.
The other members include the Vice-Chancellors of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, and COEP Technological University, Pune. The Director of Higher Education, Pune, is also a member, while the Director of Technical Education, Mumbai, has been appointed as the Member Secretary.

With 97.5 percentile in MHT-CET, you have a strong chance to get admission in reputed colleges like PICT Pune, VIT Pune, SPIT Mumbai, or Thakur College of Engineering for branches such as IT, ECE, or Electrical. COEP and VJTI may be difficult for CSE. Government colleges like WCE Sangli, SGGS Nanded, and GCOE Amravati are also good options. You can get preferred branches in private colleges and core branches in government ones. Your chances further improve if you belong to a reserved category or have home university advantage within Maharashtra.
For the General HS category, the cutoff ranged from 4.33 to 20.54 percentile for M.Tech course specialisations. Therefore, students need to attain at least 4.33 percentile for admissions at COEP Pune. MHT CET M.Tech percentiles are required for admission to M.Tech courses at COEP, Pune.

With 120 marks in MHT-CET (General category), you are unlikely to get top colleges/branches (like CSE/IT in COEP, VJTI) but can aim for mid-tier private/university-affiliated colleges in less competitive branches.
Change for MHT CET 2027 students
If the proposal is approved, students’ Class 12 performance could become an additional component in determining their admission merit for BTech and BPharm courses. The exact formula, however, has not yet been decided.
