MoS for E&IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar Felicitates First Batch of 11 Candidates under the SANKALP Programme in Medinipur

Aiming to strengthen the logistics sector with skilled professionals, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, honoured 11 individuals from the first batch of the SANKALP Programme in Medinipur, West Bengal. The Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC), the implementation partner of the project, will train 960 candidates within a year for roles such as Warehouse Manager, Supervisor, and Associate, offering job placements both locally and further afield after their certification is complete.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MoS for E&IT, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, said, “I would like to congratulate all the students today, this is a moment of celebration for us. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji, we have created a model that includes a robust partnership between public representatives, government, and the industry. It is because of such efforts over the past 10 years that we have been able to skill, reskill, and upskill young Indians to build "Aaj Ka Bharat" and "Naya Bharat."
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has been focusing delivering enhanced outcomes for the candidates via industry collaborations after skill training completion. Initiatives like these offer high-quality skill training and target placement rates of approximately 70% to 75%. These job placements are available within the state and throughout India, fostering sustainable livelihoods for the participants.
Potential To Provide Quality Manpower
West Bengal is a key human resource hub in India, with the state being the fourth most populous and second most densely populated region in India. It has the potential to be a source for trained and quality manpower for the rest of India. Districts such as West Medinipur, which show potential for structured employment expansion and have few vocational training facilities, are being focused on by private vocational training entities serving both direct consumers and businesses.
