This year, the NIRF 2025 ranking was made for 17 categories, introducing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as the newest category. IIT Madras has maintained its unbroken streak as the top engineering institute in the country. IIT Madras grabbed the #1 rank across several categories like Engineering, Overall, SDG and Innovation. It also ranked #2 among research institutions in India. Notably, IIT Madras has emerged as the best engineering institute for all of 10 years and has achieved #1 in the overall category for the past 7 years.
