NTA JEE Main 2025: How exam pattern changed over the years
The National Testing Agency will soon release the JEE Mains 2025 exam date session 1. The exam authority has revised the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern. As per JEE Mains new pattern, the numerical types of questions have been reduced to 5 from 10. All questions asked in the JEE Main 2025 will be compulsory. JEE Mains New Pattern 2025: The National Testing Agency has revised the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern. As per the JEE Main new exam pattern, there will be only 5 numerical type questions this year. Applicants will have to attempt all the questions and there will be no choice for numerical types questions in JEE Main 2025. As per the notification, JEE main 2025 exam will comprise 25 questions out of which 20 will be multiple choice type and 5 will be numerical ability type. Β

Previously, NTA JEE Main exam comprises 30 questions (20 MCQ and 10 numerical type). Applicants were given choice to attempt any 5 questions out of 10 numerical choice type question. This was introduce in JEEE Main 2021 in view of COVID-19. However, this year NTA has again revised the paper pattern. Before 2021, JEE Main paper comprises all multiple-choice questions and there were no numerical type questions. Β
As per the JEE Main exam pattern 2025, applicants will be provided four marks for correct answer. One mark will be deducted for wrong answer while there will be no negative marking for unanswered questions. Β

The National Testing Agency will soon release the JEE Main exam date 2025 soon at the official website. NTA JEE Main 2025 session 1 exam is expected to be conducted in January while session 2 exam will take place tentatively in April. Candidates are advised to keep track of JEE Main official website. Β

JEE Main 2026 exam pattern has been released by the NTA. As per exam pattern, the JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech) exam will consist of 75 questions, 25 each from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of 25 questions, 20 will be MCQs and 5 will be NAV. Students need to answer all 75 questions. JEE Main paper 2A for B.Arch consists of 77 questions of which 25 are from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 2 from Drawing. In Paper 2B for BPlan total questions are 100 of which 25 are from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 25 from Planning.
The question paper will have no internal choices within questions and total duration of exam is 3 hours.
No, there is no change in JEE Main 2026 total number of questions and marking scheme. It is the same as pervious year.
