Telangana government has expanded its overseas education scholarship programs for students planning to study abroad. Close to 1,900 students from various reserved communities will now receive financial help from the state, an increase from previous 1,110 recipients.

Telangana runs Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Overseas Education Scheme to help students from Backward Classes (BC) and Economically Backward Classes (EBC), will now cover 700 BC students, as well as 500 from BC-C and BC-E categories, and 200 from EBC category.

It has also announced to expand Ambedkar overseas education scheme for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Scheduled Caste beneficiaries has been increased from 210 to 500, while ST students now total 200.

Eligible students will receive financial support of up to ₹20 lakh, which can be used for tuition fees, visa charges, and one way economy class airfare. To qualify students must have confirmed admission to recognized international universities and meet specific academic and financial conditions.

This expansion is part of Telangana’s ongoing efforts to ensure that students from underrepresented communities have access to global education opportunities.

The state government has advised students to check official websites regularly for application updates and to ensure all documentation is completed on time.
