TNEA 2026 Round 2 Tentative Allotment Out; Know Upcoming Counselling Dates
The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu, has released the TNEA 2026 Round 2 tentative seat allotment today, August 7. Candidates who participated in the second round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling can now log in to the official counselling portal and check their tentative allotment status using their registered email ID and password.

The TNEA round 2 counselling tentative allotment has been prepared based on the candidate's rank, reservation category, choices filled during counselling, and seat availability. Candidates who have received a tentative allotment are advised to carefully verify the allotted college, branch and other details available in their candidate login by August 8. They must also complete the required confirmation process within the stipulated deadline. Only those candidates who confirm their willingness will be considered for the final allotment. The provisional allotment for ACCEPT & JOIN candidates will be out on August 9.
What After TNEA 2026 Round 2 Tentative Allotment?
After checking the tentative allotment, candidates should log in to the TNEA counselling portal and choose the appropriate confirmation option as instructed by the counselling authority. Candidates who are satisfied with the allotted seat should complete the confirmation process and download the allotment order once the final allotment is published.

All the candidates who are satisfied with the currently allotted seat and have opted for “Accept and Upward” will be given tentative allotment order. They must report to the nearest TFCwithin the date given in the allotment order and pay the tuition fees and submit their original certificates for holding the current seat. Non reporting and nonpayment of fees, will be considered as not willing to join and the allotment order will be cancelled. Such candidates will lose allotted seat and will not be considered for further rounds in counselling. In case no better choice is available in upward movement, then the candidate is confirmed with the previously allotted choice as they have paid the necessary fee in the TFC.
The TNEA 2026 counselling will end in September 2026.
BE/B.Tech admission in Tamil Nadu is done based on the online counselling process called TNEA. There is no state-level entrance exam for admission in Tamil Nadu. Candidates have to register and appear for the online Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA counselling held every year. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200. TNEA 2026 counselling process includes registration, assignment of random numbers, Certificate verifications, rank list publication, and finally the counselling. The counselling rounds will include steps like Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, and Reporting to the College/TFC and payment of fees depending upon their confirmation.
As per the counselling schedule, candidates allotted seats in Round 2 will have to report to TFCs between August 9 and August 13, 2026, along with the required documents and admission fee to complete the admission process. Failure to complete the admission formalities within the prescribed timeline may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.
