UPES NIRF Ranking 2025: Check the University’s Performance Across Categories
UPES has strengthened its position in the NIRF 2025 rankings. The University's rankings have improvement across several categories in which it appears including University, law, and management. UPES holds 43rd position in the Engineering category, and has ranked 45th in the University category across the country. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has announced its 2025 rankings across 17 categories, introducing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as the latest addition. The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has delivered an impressive performance in the NIRF ranking 2025 across multiple categories, reaffirming its place among India’s leading higher education institutions. The University has ranked 18th best in the law category, 36th best management institute, ranked 43rd under engineering, and secured 45th position in the university category.
UPES NIRF Ranking 2025 Highlights
As per the latest NIRF 2025 report, there is approximately a 56% increase in admissions to four-year UG programmes in two years. What was 1,735 in 2022-23 has now increased to 2,710 in 2023-24. The placements also see a boost, with the median UG salary package now standing at Rs 6.5 lakh. UPES also showcases a diverse student profile, hosting more than 10,700 students from outside Uttarakhand and also welcoming foreigners.

UPES NIRF 2025 Highlights - Engineering Category
- The University has 6,453 students (4,937 male; 1,516 female) pursuing the BTech programme; of these, 5100 are from outside the state.
- The 4-year engineering placements also show an excellent record in 2023-24, placing 1158 out of 1272 graduates with a median salary of Rs 6.5 lakh.
UPES NIRF Ranking 2025 Highlights- Law & Management
The University has witnessed a leap of 10 ranks in the NIRF 2025 ranking in the law category compared to its ranking of the previous year. In 2024, UPES was ranked 28th in the Law category and now is at 18th position as per the NIRF 2025 ranking. Its ranking has also improved in the management category, in which it has jumped to 36th rank compared with the 41st rank in the previous year.
The 2025 NIRF rankings and scores of UPES, therefore, indicate consistency in effort and transcendence across different categories. Growth can be attributed to increased enrollments, sustained and improving placement performances, and high on-campus investments.
