VIT University Partners with Bengaluru Firm to Launch Massive Student Innovation Initiative

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has officially received its first installment of INR 50 lakh endowment fund for accelerating student innovation, entrepreneurship and startups. The initial funding is a part of a newly formed collaboration with “0 Why Not Technologies,” a Bengaluru-based technology company.

The VIT University has taken a major step towards supporting student entrepreneurs. The university has received its first part of INR 50 lakh endowment fund. The objective is to help students turn their creative ideas into real business. The funding comes from a new partnership with “0 Why Not Technologies” a Bengaluru-based tech company. This collaboration started after both sides signed a MoU earlier this year in March. 

More than just a Financial Support

The initiative is designed to do much more than just give out financial aid. It aims to find talented student innovators and guide them through a process of building a successful company. Students participating in the program will receive:

• Industry mentorship: Expert advice from experienced business professionals

• Incubation Guidance: Step-by-Step guidance to launch and grow their startup

• Leadership Skills Development: Opportunities to build essential management skills

In addition to helping students build future business, a portion of the fund will also be used to help student athletes. VIT University plans to use these resources to buy high-quality training equipment and offer athletic assistance to deserving students. 

The first cheque of ₹50 lakh was presented to Sekar Viswanathan, Vice-President of VIT, by a team representing the tech firm, including Harsha Vardhan, Satheesh Kumar, Siva Kumar, and Sailesh Dontula, a VIT alumnus from the 2012 Mechanical Engineering batch. The presentation took place during VIT’s B.Tech Student Orientation Programme. Through this initiative, VIT hopes to create a strong culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on campus, giving students the tools they need to succeed in the real world.
