What are the new VITEEE 2026 marking rules?

The marking system in VITEEE has changed completely to reward accuracy over speed. Here’s how-

  • For correct answer, you get 4 marks
  • For incorrect answer, you lose -1 mark
  • Skipping a question - no penalty

How difficult is VITEEE?

Compared to other national -level engineering entrance exams, VIT entrance exam is on the moderate side, but the main catch is its unique selection process, which makes it highly competitive. Here's how -

  • VITEEE does not accept JEE Main or other entrance test scores
  • Does not provide any reservation quota to students
  • Follows category 1 to 5 rank-wise admission selection, which makes it overall unique.  

VITEEE 2026 Important-High Weightage Topics

Top rankers in VITEEE 2026 get tuition-fee waiver, which makes qualifying for VIT interesting. So, if you want to be one of the VIT BTech top rankers, then knowing high-weightage topics and chapters is important. Here’s a quick chapter-wise run-through: 

  • Physics - electrostatics and current electricity (10 to 12%), Magnetism and EMI (10-11%), Ray optics and wave optics (7 to 8%). Other important chapters: thermodynamics, laws of motion, circular motion, etc. 
  • Chemistry - co-ordination compounds (10%), electrochemistry (9%), chemical kinetics (9%), atomic structure (9%), chemical bonding (8%), thermodynamics (8%). Other topics - biomolecules and polymers, p and d block elements, etc. 
  • Maths - vector algebra (11%), matrices and determinants (10%), probability (10%), calculus (17%), complex numbers (7%). Other important topics: 3D geometry, trigonometry, sequence and series, etc. 
  • English and Aptitude - data interpretation, number series, coding and decoding, logical reasoning, vocabulary, basic grammar, reading comprehension, etc.

How to prepare well to secure category 1 rank in VIT exam?

To get category 1 rank in VITEEE, candidates need to secure at least 400+ marks in VIT exam. Now that the exam dates are coming closer, pay attention to the basic concepts, solve VITEEE PYQs, and sample papers. Work on accuracy and time management. However, with negative marking introduced this year and time-constraints, the question solving mainly depends on accuracy. As per exam pattern, candidates need to solve 125 questions in 150 minutes.
