Walmart Opens Center for Tech Excellence at IISc to Boost Innovation

Walmart Global Tech (WGT) has partnered with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to launch the Walmart Center for Tech Excellence designed to strengthen the research ecosystem in India. The centre will focus on driving research excellence in the field of Computer Science and empowering talent with opportunities for future growth.

Walmart Global Tech (WGT) has collaborated with the Indian Institute of Science to create the Walmart Center for Tech Excellence, aimed at enhancing India's research landscape. This centre is dedicated to advancing Computer Science research and fostering talent development. In February 2024, Walmart inaugurated another Center for Tech Excellence at IIT Madras. These academic partnerships highlight Walmart's dedication to community service and improving lives.

Located within the Department of Computer Science and Automation at IISc, the centre will concentrate on addressing key issues in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Computer Systems, and Theoretical Computer Science. It aims to attract top Indian researchers by offering fellowships to talented Pre-doc, PhD, and Post-doc candidates. The centre also plans to cultivate future talent by mentoring students from tier 2 and tier 3 institutes in India through internships, workshops, and Pre-doc opportunities. Moreover, it will enhance global research contributions through collaborations with leading international universities.
