When will IIT Madras announce new GATE 2027 application start date
IIT Madras is expected to announce the revised GATE 2027 application start date anytime soon. Based on the last five years’ trends of GATE registration start date, the organising institute usually releases the exam form on or before August 31. Earlier, the form was scheduled for August 14, which was later revised to August 27. However, due to new changes made in IITM GATE 2027, the registration start date is further delayed.Â

What is the new date for GATE 2027

Why IIT Madras delayed release of GATE exam form 2027
IIT Madras have revised GATE 2027 exam schedule primarly to integrate new digital verification and give more time to students to update their DigiLocker account for registration. Applicants are advised to update or create their DigiLocker account before filling GATE application form 2027. IIT Madras uploaded tutorials regarding GATE registration and the document checklist. Candidates must create a separate folder in DigiLocker account with folder name as “GATE2027” without space for smooth registration process.Â

The GATE 2027 registration process remains the same. However, here are a few changes that have been implemented for GATE application form-filling process.
- Create a verified DigiLocker account for a smooth registration process
- Candidates have to provide their facial details/recognition during registration process
Candidates can fill GATE application form at GOAPS portal. First, candidates have to register and then fill their form. Overall, stages of GATE form filling include - filling form, uploading of documents, and payment of application fees.
As per last year, the GATE registration fee can be checked below -
- For SC, ST, and PwD applicants is INR 1000 during the regular period and INR 1500 during extended period.
- For other candidates, including foreign nationals, the fee is INR 2000 (during the regular period) and INR 2500 during the extended timeline.
