Universities Final Year Exam 2020: A stay order is released by the Himachal Pradesh High Court against the conduct of the University Grant Commission (UGC) exams. The stay order is put until the orders of the Supreme Court of India is pronounced in the matter. The next hearing on UGC exams this year would be done on August 18, 2020, i.e. tomorrow, by the Supreme Court.

The hearing is on the petition filed by various parents and students against the conduct of the final year examinations by the Commission across the country. According to the revised UGC guidelines released by the Education Minister, the final year exams will be conducted in the country this year by September 30. The last hearing on the same matter was conducted on Friday, i.e. August 14. While the universities across the country promoting the intermediate students, the faith of the final year students is still undecided. The final year exams are delayed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus followed by the lockdown imposed in order to contain the pandemic. Advocate Shyam Divan told the Court during the last hearing that UGC’s decision to conduct exams by September 30 is extremely unusual because there is no mention of health concerns or improvement of the situation. Such a date can be laid down during normal times, but not in a time of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Delhi High Court has directed UGC to issue an advisory to all the Universities regarding deferment for the demand of submitting provisional certificates for getting admission in Post Graduation courses in the light of the delay in conducting exams & declaration of results.
