Earlier this month, the Gujarat government announced its decision to permit the reopening of schools for students of classes 9 to 12 and colleges for final year students from November 23.

Gujarat Schools, Colleges Reopening: Gujarat Government on November 19, 2020, deferred its earlier decision to reopen the schools and colleges in the state from November 23. According to the reports, the decision is taken by the government in view of the surging COVID-19 cases in the post-festival season. Meanwhile, the new dates for reopening schools and colleges in Gujarat have not been announced as yet. Earlier this month, the Gujarat government announced its decision to permit the reopening of schools for students of classes 9 to 12 and colleges for final year students from November 23. Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chaudasma made an official announcement regarding the same on November 11, 2020. He had also shared the SOPs for the same.

However, now the decision stands canceled and the government's plans to reopen schools and colleges are deferred for the time being. CMO Gujarat yesterday evening tweeted, ‘Gujarat Govt decides to postpone the reopening of schools and colleges in Gujarat from November 23 in the wake of the current Coronavirus situation.’ Check the tweet below.

The latest updates also suggest that the Gujarat government decides to impose 'complete curfew' in Ahmedabad from 9 pm of November 20 to 6 am of November 23. "Only shops selling milk and medicines to remain open during this period," according to the order. As a preventive step, the state government also decided that from November 20, there will be a daily curfew in Ahmedabad city from 9 pm to 6 am. This measure will continue until the COVID19 situation in Gujarat improves: Gujarat Administration.
