Anna University

Anna University has made a 30-hour career guidance training programme mandatory for all final-year students. Those who are studying across its four campuses will have to attend a career guidance programme from the 2026-27 academic session.

The initiative is implemented to equip students with industry-relevant skills before they apply for a job. The programme will focus on problem-solving, real-world technical projects, coding skills, resume writing, presentation skills, workplace behaviour, conflict resolution, entrepreneurship, and higher education opportunities.

According to university officials, the training will be introduced to strengthen students' placement prospects and help them perform better during campus recruitment drives and job interviews. The Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC) has designed the programme to provide both technical and professional development. Students will receive training in:

  • Problem-solving techniques
  • Coding and technical assessments
  • Resume writing
  • Soft skills and communication
  • Presentation skills
  • Conflict resolution
  • Workplace ethics and behaviour
  • Entrepreneurship awareness
  • Higher education guidance

Out of the total 30-hour programme, around 20 hours will be common for all engineering students. The remaining 10 hours will be for individual departments according to the technical skills. Anna University announced that the entire programme will be funded by Titan under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The regular classes for second, third, and fourth-year engineering students are scheduled to commence from July 1.
