DU Admissions 2021: Combined score of CUCET & Class 12 may count
In a proposal to UGC, the university has stated that it wants to conduct DU admissions based on a combination of marks scored in Class 12 and the result of CUCET that will be conducted this year.
Delhi University is planning to count the combined scores of CUCET and Class 12 for DU Admission 2021. The University has sent a proposal to University Grants Commission (UGC) stating the same.
While sources in the Union Ministry of Education (MoE) states that many aspirants would have to appear for the aptitude test (that comprises verbal and quantitative ability and logical reasoning), followed by subject-specific tests, many were concerned about its impact on DU’s admissions, which are majorly merit-based.
DU acting vice-chancellor PC Joshi told media reports that students could rest assured that their Class 12 marks would count and there would be no compromise on merit.
Earlier in December, the central government had set up a seven-member committee chaired by Professor RP Tiwari who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda to recommend modalities for a high-quality aptitude test which would be common for admissions to all central universities. The examination was expected to come into effect for admissions to undergraduate courses for the 2021-22 academic session and was decided to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
However, the CUCET examination has not been finalized yet. Delhi University is all set to adopt it whenever gets finalized.
