GNDU and University of Maryland has collaborated to launch an advanced artificial intelligence certificate program under Viksit Amritsar Partnership 2026 initiative. GNDU AI Course

Guru Nanak Dev University has collaborated with the University of Maryland to launch an AI course. The two universities have joined hands in a digital summit for the artificial intelligence certificate program for the Amritsar module. The course is being offered under the Viksit Amritsar Partnership 2026 initiative. 30 GNDU students will get to study the programme at an international level of learning. The bunch of students to be filtered out of 300 engineering and science students.  

During his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and founding leader of the Viksit Amritsar forum, Taranjit Sandhu, talked about the role in modern resources for youth from rural areas. He noted how data learning is necessary for preparing graduates for international careers.

Furthermore, Maryland State Secretary of Higher Education, Sanjay Rai, highlighted the need for global higher education. He stated that the program could help in digital inventions. He said the world's next AI learning might take shape on the GNDU campus.

The course is designed to make students learn above standard textbook. According to Prof. Sandeep Sharma of GNDU, the course balances core theory with actual lab hours to help software engineers make better machine systems.

GNDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh emphasized that the course combines learning with human ethics. Adding to this, Amitabh Varshney, Dean of the University of Maryland School of Computer Sciences, welcomed the students, noting that AI is no longer a research subject but a necessary tool.
