Accreditation notice has been issued amid investigation into a major terror incident near Delhi’s Red Fort and an explosives haul in Faridabad region, both of which have drawn direct links to staff and premises of Al-Falah University.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has sent a show cause notice to Al-Falah University in Faridabad for putting wrong accreditation information on its website.

In its notice NAAC said that the university is not accredited and has also not applied for its first cycle of assessment. However, on its website, university mentioned that its colleges, Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology, and Al-Falah School of Education and Training, were graded ‘A’ by NAAC.

NAAC said this information is “absolutely wrong and misleading the public, especially the parents, students and stakeholders.” It also said that the accreditation of these colleges had already expired and they have not applied for renewal.

The council has asked the university to explain within seven days why action, including legal steps, should not be taken against it. NAAC has also asked why it should not recommend to the UGC, NMC, NCTE, AICTE and the Haryana government to withdraw their recognition of the university’s programmes.

The university has been told to immediately remove all expired or false NAAC accreditation claims from its website and other public materials.

Link with Delhi blast investigation

The accreditation notice comes amid investigation into a major terror incident near Delhi’s Red Fort and an explosives haul in Faridabad region, both of which have drawn direct links to staff and premises of Al-Falah University.

Several doctors from Al-Falah University have been detained and questioned for their alleged role in the terror module connected to the Delhi blast; the university has stated it has “no connection” with the accused beyond their employment.
