NIRF to launch Open University, Languages University Rankings from 2024
Prof Sahasrabudhe former Chairman of AICTE and currently NETF speaking with Shiksha.com said that NIRF will also rank higher education institutions based on their work in the area of sustainability.
The NIRF is contemplating Open University Ranking and Language Universities Ranking in 2024. The NIRF will also introduce sustainability parameters in the Rankings from next year.
Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of the National Educational Technology Forum, EC National Board of Accreditation (NBA) speaking to Shiksha.com said that from next year NIRF is working on introducing two new Rankings, Open University and Languages University.
“There is demand for separate rankings of Open universities and Languages universities as a large number of students take admission in these universities each year,” said Prof Sahasrabudhe.
He also added that NIRF will also rank higher education institutions based on their work in the area of sustainability.
The deadline for NIRF India Rankings 2024 registration ends today at 5 p.m.
This year, NIRF India Rankings 2023 were announced on June 5, 2023, in five categories, namely Overall, Colleges, Universities, Research Institutions and Innovation and eight subject domains, namely Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medical, Architecture & Planning, Dental and Agriculture & Allied Sectors.
Launched in 2015, several improvements in data collection formats, metrics and comparison methodology were adopted and put into practice for India Rankings over the past eight years. However, Prof Sahasrabudhe agreed that there is still scope for improvement as far as data verification is concerned. “We are working on ensuring that the information submitted by universities is 100% correct,” he said.
In the 2023 Rankings, two new Rankings were added to the previous 11, by the addition of Agriculture and Allied Sectors and Innovation.
