Apparently the funds have not been released by Delhi government because the colleges haven’t notified their governing bodies. The approval to this end is awaited from the university.

In 12 colleges of Delhi University, teachers and non-teaching staff are yet to receive their salaries for two months now. Apparently the funds have not been released by Delhi government because the colleges haven’t notified their governing bodies. The approval to this end is awaited from the university. The 12 institutions, completely backed by Delhi government, are Bhagini Nivedita College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Mahirishi Balmiki College of Education, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Science, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Shaheed Raj Guru College, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Acharya Narendra Dev College, and Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Science.

Apart from the faculty, salaries and payments to sanitation workers, contractual labourers and other non-teaching staff have also been withheld. According to Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, the government-aided colleges had been involved in a lot of illegal work because without governing bodies in place the colleges can’t function. The issue may take time to be cleared. Nevertheless, the AAP government has been alleged of flouting norms in selecting some governing board nominees. Apart from the state government, the university administration too is facing flak. However, some teachers have named this a political class between two mainstream political parties of Delhi.

The tussle has caused a whole lot of worries to teachers and non-teaching staff alike. DU is held equally responsible for this scuffle by some teachers.
