Govt to Establish Ambedkar Chair at Mumbai University; Announces Coaching Center for Competitive Exam Aspirants

Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar notified, marking the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, that the government will establish 'Ambedkar Chair' and student facilities at Mumbai University along with setting up two new hostels and a dedicated coaching centre for marginalised communities student preparing for the competitive examination.

Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, addressed at the 'Samvidhan Amrit Mahotsav' held at the University of Mumbai. In his keynote address, he notified the government's initiative of setting up of Ambedkar Chair and setting up two new hostels for Mumbai University students. Further, the minister highlighted that a dedicated coaching centre for marginalised communities students will be opened who are preparing for the competitive examination. 

The Union Minister further highlighted the government's dedication to advancing the principles of social justice, equality, and empowerment, getting inspiration from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the major pillar of the Indian Constitution.

Dr. Kumar emphasized several initiatives in order to uplift the underprivileged and set up an 'Ambedkar Chair' at the University of Mumbai to facilitate research on Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions and his vision for the country. Additionally, he mentioned the plan to build two new hostels at the Mumbai University campus to facilitate students.

"The government will establish an 'Ambedkar Chair' at the University of Mumbai, similar to those in other universities, to promote research on Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions and his vision for the nation," the Union Minister stated.

During his speech, Dr. Kumar further urged India’s youth to take an active role in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to lead the fight against substance abuse and safeguard not only their own well-being but also that of their communities. Going forward, the minister also highlighted that the Constitution not only guarantees fundamental rights but also emphasises the importance of responsibilities. He said while we focus on our rights, we must equally recognize our duties to society. This balance is crucial for truly realizing the democracy Dr. Ambedkar envisioned.
