UGC asks 37 Private Universities to upload Mandatory Public Disclosure; Madhya Pradesh (20), Gujarat (6) Highest

UGC has also listed universities from Manipur, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Karnataka, Assam, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.
University Grants Commission (UGC) has named 37 state private universities as defaulters for failing to meet statutory public disclosure norms. These universities have neither uploaded details required under Section 13, nor shared others informationβs about the university like courses, fees under mandatory Public Self-Disclosure documents.
UGC notice states that despite repeated communications, including emails, formal notices, and meetings, these 37 institutions have not complied.
Under UGC regulations, universities are required to display comprehensive information on their homepage, covering courses, faculty, governance, infrastructure, fee structures, and more, without need of any login or registration. University websites should also feature easy navigation to this information.

Madhya Pradesh has highest number of defaulting universities, followed by Gujarat, with other states such as Uttarakhand, Bihar and Assam also showing non-compliance.
The UGC has given these universities a two-week deadline to rectify the lapse. Non-compliance beyond this period will result in action against them.
