IIRS offers FREE online course on space technology for school teachers

Candidates interested in IIRS courses can apply for courses at https://eclass.iirs.gov.in.

The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a constituent unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is all set to conduct a free online course on space technology titled ‘Space Technology and Applications for teachers' from May 31 to June 4, 2021. Candidates interested in IIRS courses can apply for courses at https://eclass.iirs.gov.in. In a press note, Dr V Gurunadha Rao, government teacher and science communicator from the Mahabubabad district said that the course aims at raising awareness and capacity building of school teachers on the use of space technology and its applications. He urged the teachers to make use of this opportunity.

He further added, “Online applications for the course began on the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing website on May 5, 2021. Interested candidates must note that only limited seats are available for the online course and hence learners will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, the candidates can apply for another seven days.” The course will cover interesting topics such as Planetary science, Space technology and the Indian space programme, Satellite communication and navigation technology and its applications, Remote sensing applications in governance, Astronomy and space science and more will be covered under this online programme. 

Candidates who are unable to register may also watch the classes live on its official YouTube channel. School Teachers teaching class 9 to 12 standards of all boards can attend this free online course. It will be very useful for the teachers teaching Science, Mathematics or Geography. The participants attaining 70 per cent attendance will be awarded a course participation certificate from IIRS-ISRO. After completing the course, the participant will receive a certificate in his/her email.  The online sessions delivered under this programme are interactive and delivered by Subject Matter Experts (SME) from ISRO and other International Institute of repute. The online courses are delivered through indigenous active learning platforms i.e. Electronic Collaborative Learning and Knowledge Sharing System (E-CLASS) of IIRS.
