The application process for the Indian Scholastic Assessment test (IND-SAT) is scheduled to close on April 15. The IND-SAT test for Asian and African students will be conducted in the second week of May. The test is to be held for students aspiring to study in India and looking for scholarships. The exam will be conducted in cities in 13 countries: Tanzania, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Indonesia, Mauritius, and India. In India, the exam will take place in New Delhi and Bengaluru. Overall 2000 scholarships up to $ 3,500 will be provided to students on the basis of this test. IND-SAT is going to be a multiple-choice objective paper of a duration of 90 minutes.

The students will be evaluated on Verbal, Quantitative and Logical Reasoning areas. The IND-SAT scores will serve as a criterion to select the students and earmark scholarships as a part of ‘Study in India’ programme. A total of 30,000 applications have been submitted under Study in India programme so far. This is being offered for over 1,500 courses in more than 160 institutes. About 80 per cent of the scholarships are set aside for undergraduate students while the remaining 20 per cent is meant for the postgraduate students. The scholarship test was proclaimed in the Budget 2020 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The test has begun with an aim to become the global hub of education for the students of southeast Asian countries and the poor countries of Africa.
