The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the CLAT 2027 Notification. Students seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes offered by participating National Law Universities can apply for CLAT exam 2027. As per the notification, the CLAT 2027 registration process will begin on August 3, 2026 at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. This national-level law entrance examination will be conducted on December 6, 2026 from 2 PM to 4 PM, in offline pen-and-paper mode. Candidates seeking admission to 3 year LLB, 5-year integrated LLB programmes and LLM courses should download CLAT notification 2027 to know the important dates, exam pattern, syllabus and other exam releated updates.

CLAT 2027 Registration Begins on August 3
The online application process for CLAT 2027 will start on August 3, 2026. Eligible candidates will have to complete the registration process through the official Consortium website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in before CLAT registration last date for UG and PG courses.

As of 2026, 26 National Law Universities (NLUs) participate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). These universities offer undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs, with over 5,600 seats available in total. NLU Delhi is the only exception, conducting its own entrance exam (AILET) rather than participating in CLAT
A good rank in the CLAT exam for general category students is under 1,000โ1,500 to secure admission in top-tier National Law Universities (NLUs). A rank under 500 is considered excellent for the top 5 NLUs, while a rank up to 3,000โ5,000 can still secure a seat in newer, mid-tier NLUs.
The CLAT exam duration is two hours for both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate. It will have 120 multiple choice questions. For each correct answer one makrs will be given and -0.25 will be deducted for incorrect ones.
