GNLU in collaboration with Indian Medical Association-Gujarat State Branch has inaugurated PG Diploma Programme in 'Medical Law, Policy and Ethics'(PGDMLPE) for medical practitioners in India. The knowledge of medical laws will enable medical practitioners to develop critical thinking about legal, ethical and professional issues and also to take decisions which are professionally, ethically and legally justifiable.

GNLU inaugurates PG Diploma Programme in 'Medical Law, Policy and Ethics' course

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) inaugurated PG Diploma Programme in 'Medical Law, Policy and Ethics'(PGDMLPE) for medical practitioners in India. The course is being jointly offered by GNLU and Indian Medical Association-Gujarat State Branch (IMA-GSB). As many as 62 doctors have already registered for the programme.

GNLU tweet reads, "GNLU is proud to have recently inaugurated the PG Diploma Programme in 'Medical Law, Policy and Ethics' (PGDMLPE) for medical practitioners in India. This diploma is being offered in a collaboration with Indian Medical Association-Gujarat State Branch."

The inaugural ceremony was held on February 25, 2023, and was graced by several dignitaries such as Chief Guest Manoj Agarwal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat; Guest of Honour Dr Nitin Vora, President, Gujarat Medical Council; Guest of Honour Dr Anil J Nayak, Honorary Secretary General, Indian Medical Association Headquarters, Delhi and other dignitaries and experts from Indian Medical Association (GSB).

About GNLU's PG Diploma Programme in 'Medical Law, Policy and Ethics'

It is a one-year course with 26 credits. "The programme will offer the opportunity to study the contemporary legal and ethical challenges faced by those working in the healthcare sector. The course aims to acquaint medical practitioners with evolving issues such as assisted reproduction, abortion, genetics, mental health, standards of medical treatment, transplantation medicine, euthanasia health research, advanced directives/decisions, and the allocation of scarce resources," read GNLU's official notification.
