Telangana: Polytechnic students can now pursue 5-year BA LLB course

Polytechnic students in Telangana can now pursue a legal career after exiting from their second year of coursework. In December last year, Madras High Court had directed that when it comes to admission to five-year BA LLB courses, the polytechnic students who completed three years of courses or diploma should be considered equivalent to those who opted for 2 after their Class X.

As per the Telangana Today report, the polytechnic students securing a minimum of 90 credits can opt out of the diploma course with a certificate in engineering, which will be equivalent to the intermediate certificate of the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education. After this, to pursue a law career, they must enrol and crack the Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET).

“From this year, polytechnic students with a certificate in engineering, which is equivalent to intermediate certificate, will be eligible for the five-year LLB degree course,” a senior official said.

The students who have completed three years of polytechnic courses and scored 90 credits are also eligible for a certificate in engineering using which they can pursue law courses after cracking TS LAWCET.
