Maharashtra government launches 'Mission Zero Drop Out' to get students back to school
The special drive has been launched to identify the dropouts and get them back to the school in the state.
With an aim to bring school education back on tracks and to ensure that every child gets the education, the Maharashtra government has launched a new program named 'Mission Zero Drop Out.' The special drive has been launched to identify the dropouts and get them back to the school in the state.
The announcement of this special drive was made by Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of School Education, Maharashtra in a series of tweets. She wrote, “#MissionZeroDropOut. The Pandemic may have deepened the inequalities in education but we remain committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure that every child gets her right to education. A special drive is being launched to identify dropouts and get them #BacktoSchool.”
The goal of this special drive is to draw attention to the issue of school dropouts in the state. By combining all the efforts with those of the community, the young children who had dropped schools due to the pandemic can be brought back to school. The Minister has urged the media and community to join this campaign.
Meanwhile, the state will likely begin the admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) this week. The RTE quota constitutes around 25 per cent of the total seats available for the academic session 2021-22. The revised schedule for the admission process is expected to be released by this week. There will be only one lottery process for admissions under the RTE quota this year. As soon as the lottery process concludes, the waiting list as per the vacant seats will be released in schools across Maharashtra.
