FTII Film Appreciation Course Registration Deadline Extended till June 15; Know Programme Details
The FTII Film Appreciation Course will be held from June 23 to July 11, 2025, in Pune. Interested and eligible students can apply online for the mid-year 2025 programme till 6 PM on June 15, 2025.
Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has extended the registration last date for its flagship Film Appreciation Course (Mid-Year 2025) till June 15, 2025. The programme will be conducted in Pune between June 23 to July 11, 2025. Students who have not filled the application form before June 7, 2025. Students can fill the application form in online mode.
The National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archive of India and FTII are collaborating to offer the course, which is a component of FTII's larger outreach program to democratize access to film education in India.
The course is designed as an intensive, full-time programme that provides students with a structured introduction to cinema's aesthetics, history, and language. It comprises lectures, movies, and discussions, with sessions running every day from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM, excluding weekends. The course includes the opportunity for learners to experience movies in both 35mm and digital formats.
The curriculum of the Film Appreciation Course (Mid-Year 2025) explores cinema as both an art form and a medium of communication. The programme has an emphasis on Indian and world cinema traditions and allows students to learn the art of cinema. Participants of the programme will engage with selected classics such as fiction, non-fiction, and documentary, accompanied by in-depth analysis under the programme. Guest interactions with noted filmmakers will be an integral part of the programme. Lectures will be delivered by FTII’s core faculty along with distinguished guest faculty.
